Open Question: Tinnitus...PLEASE HELP :(?
Hi everyone... on Monday I started having this really annoying ringing type of noise in my left ear and I thought it would go away by the next day...unfortunately that is not the case. I ended up going to the urgent care clinic where I was told I have "tinnitus". The doctor looked into both of my ears and said he cannot see any type of disease or anything that would have to do with tinnitus but concluded that since I have this ringing in my ear, it must be tinnitus. He said I should wait a few more days to see if it will go away but this is really affecting my life. I WANT RELIEF! I'm only 23 years old...why the hell is this happening to me? I can't concentrate and go about my daily routine because of this new interference. I have scheduled an appointment with my family doctor for Monday but until then I'm trying to figure out what to do to mask this annoyance. So after doing quite a bit of research on tinnitus, I discovered that it is not curable which ultimately freaked me out...putting me into a very sad state and depression. It seems like the ringing noise in my ear is getting worse by the day... Also, I read that there are some treatments but many of them vary in effectiveness. so my question to those who have tinnitus and had some treatment, what would you recommend? I really don't care if it is a natural treatment or pills or whatever...I'm growing desperate...PLEASE HELP! moreOpen Question: Is there anyone in the YA community who has agoraphobia......?
That has gotten treatment and been successful at overcoming this disorder. I have suffered from it my whole life. I don't really remember ever not being afraid of something happening to me if I went somewhere alone.I am 50 years old and I have no real friends just my mom my kids and my husband. My husband is really the only person I feel completely safe with.If he is with me then I can go out but only if he stays close by.I take seroquel 400mg and temanzepam 30mg.What I'm asking is that has anyone found any treatment that has worked I pretty much only have my mom to spend my days with. But I would love to have some friends to spend time with.I have given up on the idea of having a job and keeping it.I have gotten many in the past but this disorder always kicks in and I have panic attacks and end up leaving without giving notice so now I'm unemployable. So can anyone tell me if they have found any relief from this and what the treatment might have helped you. Thanks for your help! moreOpen Question: And the least expensive treatment and relief for lower back pain is?
I suffered for at least 12 years with low back pain severity that my relationships have all but ceased.I never go out anymore, no movies, no fishing or hunting. I really dont drive my 4X4 anymore, for fun anyway.I used to produce clay art pieces and draw, paint, sculpt. My temper is so short and my responses to others great successes are so subdued.Chronic pain can be so disastrous,if I get sent back i'm going to stay off of ice and stairs. My coccyx hurts all the time now and my diks are problematic.Hard work can be restorative, bless the toilers.Hoping the numbers regarding cost and frequency can be turned around.I would'nt wish this onto the least significant. moreOpen Question: urinary tract infection strip test? WBC vs nitrite?
I took a one-strip UTI test today at the first signs I had (urination urgency, irritation and discomfort peeing, etc) and the test tested for both white blood cells AND nitrite. the white blood cell part came out purple, which meant the greatest positive color possible, but the nitrite tested negative altogether. what the hell does this mean in like dumb people terms? should i go to the doctor immediately? wait a while, take the UTI pain relief pills i got? are there any possible EFFECTIVE at-home treatments? i'm drinking tons of water. i dont really have time to make a doc appointment. i'm very uncomfortable and this is the first day i've had symptoms and pain urinating. with those results, what should my next steps be???? moreVoting Question: Do I have to pay tax on a financial gift? Is there any tax relief for someone who gives a gift of money?
My family, who are not well off, have raised £14500 to give me to pay for private medical treatment for cancer as the NHS waiting time was appalling. I just wondered if there is any onus on me to declare this sum of money for tax purposes or, indeed, whether there is any tax relief on this type of gift for my extraordinarily generous and loving family? Thanks moreResolved Question: I don't understand thi sFDR quote?
When Rabbi Stephen Wise and co. went to FDR to tell him about the treatment of the European Jews by the Nazis, FDR started the conversation off by saying this: I am a sadist, a man of extreme sadistic tendencies. When I appointed Governor Lehman as head of the new Office of Relief and Rehabilitation, I had some very sadistic thoughts in my head. I know that Governor Lehman is a great administrator, and I wanted a great administrator for this post. I had another thought in my mind, however. I had hopes that, when God spares my life and the war is over, to be able to go to Germany, stand behind a curtain and have the sadistic satisfaction of seeing some "Junkers" on their knees, asking Lehman for bread. And, by God, I'll urge him to give it to them. I really don't get it...what's this about him being a sadist? And who's General Lehman? And why does he want the Germans on their knees? And why did he say this to Rabbi Wise? Here's the record of the conversation between Wise and FDR: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsou...Sorry, meant Gov. Ever since i can remember, ive felt a girl. i have a male body. i have been raised as a guy. my parents, not knowing about my true self until recently, kept teaching me that i was a guy. because their teachings have been very solid, as ive grown up, whenever i wanted to express my true feelings as a girl, ive thought to myself that im just a guy going through a wierd phase. that's what my mother says of "strange" things like this. I love her very much and trust her to the ends of the earth. still, i know im a girl, but i have a guy's body. ive read about other people who feel like me, though they are a little bit different. they say they've wanted to cut off the male genitals that comes with the body they're stuck in. wile i wish i was physically a girl, so i could act like i really am without any wierd looks or anything, i wouldnt cut off my penis. its my parent's teachings i believe. i have'nt heard yet what they think. since i was little, i have learned to hide things. ive become very good at it. sometimes i find the great relief in letting me be myself when no one is around, but thats it. my question is this: transgender surgery would make me have more or less the body of who i really am (sadly, i will never be able to completely be a girl. i cant have babies or menstruate). I am 15 years old. I have been told i have pretty much finished my physical height growth. I have hair everywhere and in great quantities (the only female quality of my body is very long eyelashes. i treasure them so much). if i was to begin hormone treatment and eventually have surgery, could I ever look like a normal girl without a doubt of ever having been a guy?I know that I'm a girl and no matter what body I'm in, I'll always be a girl. I'm really uncomfortable with the body I have, though. I would just like to look like a normal girl. What girl doesn't want to be pretty? I don't think in becoming a model in the future. I don't have to look like a model. I just want to be pretty like all other girls. It's been so difficult hiding this for so many years. I should have been braver when I was younger, but finally it was pain that got to me and made me tell my parents who I really am. moreResolved Question: difference between graded potential and an action potential?!?
I have a lot of questions I need help with. If you can answer any that would be great... 4.Explain the difference between a graded potential and an action potential at the level of the cell membrane and ion movement. (2 marks) 5.Botulinum toxin (BT) is not only the basis of Botox treatments but is also used in many medical applications. Recent studies have shown that after this chemical is injected into synapses of facial neurons, it appears in the brain. How would you hypothesize that BT travels to the brain in these circumstances? (1 mark) 6.BT's mode of action includes extracellular binding to nerve terminals and intracellular blockade of acetylcholine secretion. If wrinkles are largely thought to be caused by repeated movements (contractions) of facial muscles, what do you propose would be the mechanism by which BT decreases the appearance of major wrinkles? (1 mark) 7.BT is also used to treat a number of medical conditions, including overactive bladder conditions. The causes of overactive bladder conditions are uncertain and due to abnormalities in many pathways, but often come from overactive bladder nerves, which then trigger frequent bladder muscle contractions. What is your hypothesis for why BT would provide relief to patients with an overactive bladder (under these conditions)? (1 mark) 8.BT is actually a neurotoxin that is produced by a bacterium. Another bacterium in the same genus produces a toxin that is responsible for tetanus. While BT blocks the release of acetylcholine, the tetanoid toxin (sorry Med. Micro folks!) actually blocks the release of GABA. Given what you know about the role of GABA, how would you expect the effects of tetanoid toxin exposure to be different from the results of BT exposure? In your answer, be sure to include something about the difference in muscle status with the different exposures. (2 marks) 9.The next bacterium on our list of yucky things is E. coli. You have heard of this one in various contexts, but again here we will consider what it can do to cell signaling. There are many varieties of E. coli, but let’s consider the strain that causes traveller’s diarrhea. This condition is caused by the E. coli stimulating a membrane-bound adenlylate cyclase. First, on the provided simple diagram of a sample intestinal epithelial cell, fill in the missing details about the represented pathway, being as specific as possible. Put arrows in the pathway, and label any relevant components that are unlabelled. My first year of college I bought a black moor as a baby and gave it a one gallon tank to fit in my apartment. After freshman year, I joined a sorority and had to surrender my goldfish to my parents until I graduated and had a place of my own. Every time I came home, the fish seemed to have doubled in size, and I soon became concerned about its living situation, but I let it slide. I graduated this June and returned home to find my goldfish in absolutely deplorable conditions. The now 7in long fish (tip to tail) about 2in wide was still living in the one gallon bowl. There was a filter in the bowl, but the water was still green with neglect. Horrified, I quickly set up an old ten gallon aquarium and transferred the fish into a better home. Once in the tank, I was shocked at her appearance. There are white spots on her eyes and front fins, and one eye looks like it was damaged in some sort of trauma. Some scales were missing due to her struggle in transport, but quickly small patches of white fuzz grew over the wounds. Half of her beautiful tail seems to have fallen off in the other bowl, and parts of fins are torn on both tail and dorsal fins. Most concerning, however, is her tendency to float with her tail pointed up on the surface. She frequently swims quickly to the surface and appears to be gasping for air. I realize that there are several parts to this, and I apologize for the long explanation, but I'm concerned about her health and how I should proceed with tank treatments. I'm fairly new to larger aquariums so any help would be greatly appreciated. My biggest concern is bringing this fish relief as fast as possible. moreResolved Question: feeling very aggressive?

I was a teen mom, but I felt like I did an ok job. I loved my kids, did what I could to help them grow into men, joined in their interests, cuddled when needed, disciplined when needed, and let them grow up when I felt letting go was called for. I made TONS of mistakes, and I know that, accept it, apologize for it unconditionally. Part of their childhood I was a single working mom. I didn't resent it. It just was what it was. We still had a decent life with time for them. Problem is, now that their both adults, neither of them have the slightest contact with me. They've let it be known that the felt like I was a horrible mom, and I ruined their lives. One suffers from a fairly serious form of depression, and has since he was very young. Various treatments gave limited relief. I understand that his ability to tolerate anything negative is really limited, and have always been kind and gentle with his feelings. The youngest son just simply cut off all contact with me shortly after he moved out. Both of the boys have lived with me for limited times during their adulthood (they are in their late 20's, early 30's). The thing is, looking back at it, I wasn't a monster or anything. I was an ordinary mom, doing ordinary things the best I knew how. And they both seem to just hate my guts, and wish me dead. This hurts me more than anything in this world. I'm pretty good at letting go of things, but these are my kids, and I just can't seem to let go and let them be free. I don't contact them, unless they contact me first. Our interactions are full of them being furious at me, and me apologizing endlessly and trying to help them move on. Is there any way past this? I love my kids... absolutely to pieces! But they just don't love me. They have a step-dad, and strangely, the step-family thing wasn't a problem. Their step-dad thought the world of them (until they made it clear they hated me), and they had many, many good times with him, independant of me. They fished and dived and in general got along wonderfully. Their dad was barely in the picture. Sorry this is such a novel, but I needed to vent. Does anyone have any ideas? moreResolved Question: What remedies are there to relieve foot neuropathy caused by diabetes?

Hopefully someone can assist me with what I could do to get better medical care. I have a workers comp claim that has been open come this August which will be 2 yrs. I have been to numerous doctors who has given me numerous diagnosis from fibromyalgia, sprain/strain back, neuropathy, pinched nerves, thoracic outlet sydrome and it keeps going. My injury are to my upper back, neck and right arms. I worked a job for 7 years doing repetitive computer work in an unergonomic situation. I haven't been able to get any real treatment other than a pain management dr. who every 2 weeks want to prescribe drugs with all kind of side effects. So far none of the meds i have tried for pain and muscle spasm has worked. I can not sit for periods of time without being in escutiating pain. I did get some sort of relief thur chiropractice service but workers comp will not approve any other. I have not been consider strationary/permanent yet by the QME provider. Workers comp has never paid for an mri they went off an mri i paid for a week prior to be filing a claim and because that was normal i guess they feel they need not pay for one. Is there any way or having medical care paid under my private insurance when i have a workers comp case open when the injuries are related? I belonged to the group Beginning Menopause. I joined the group while experiencing some horrific , yet normal symptoms of menopause. After several weeks of whining and complaining I chose to seek treatment options as I was nearly suicidal. I made an appointment with my licensed physician and ultimately made the decision to try bio identical hormone therapy. The therapy is legal and I found great relief from my symptoms and am back to normal. I have stated this fact on the forum to perhaps enlighten other women to their right to choose the option of this treatment. I stated my experience and my results in using bio identicals. Yesterday I was asked several questions on the forum regarding cost, insurance etc... by members of the group and I answered these questions and have now been banned from the group by the moderator after she sent out a lengthy post slamming me. My girlfriend is currently suffering from chronic tension headaches, and while she has found some relief from ibuprofen (especially ibuprofen mixed with caffeine, as found in OTC tension headache medication), the pain has been quite problematic. Some possible causes of this are stress (job woes, considerable financial concerns, etc. etc.) and poor sleeping conditions (we use an old, incredibly uncomfortable mattress). I have tried massaging the back of her neck where the pain seems to radiate from, but I am not skilled at all at massaging, and this does not seem to help for any extended period of time. Are there specific massage techniques that I could try to help her out? Would it possibly be beneficial for her to visit a chiropractor? Are there other OTC medications that could be better than the ibuprofen/caffeine medication? Would a heating pad be useful? Would icing the area be helpful? Are there any other methods I could try that I haven't thought of yet? She has a doctor's visit soon where I am sure she will get more information on what to do, but the pain has become rather unbearable for her, so I would really like to hear of some quick fixes or at least some tension-relieving methods. I told the dentist that after being prescribed various opiates before and following surgery for degenerative disc disease for the previous 5 years I was tired of being in a fog and asked for an alternative. My doctor agreed and put me on "Suboxone". This helped avoid withdrawal issues and at the lower dose I'm at now offers a low level of pain relief I can deal with. Ignoring a severe infection in my teeth and gums which I understand can negate the numbing effect of Novocaine, my dentist didn't understand why for the first time and only time in my life, the Novocaine didn't work and I couldn't tolerate the pain as he tried to pull a painfully infected tooth. In addition to a ridiculous cost to have this work done by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia, both Social Security and state disability examiners have asked for a status report from my current treating physicians. The fact is my immune system has been compromised by series of recent cortisone shots and temporary nerve blocks but my dentist has his own agenda. When I explained what his conclusion could do he reminded me It was my history. My dentist explained that after visiting with a friend at a cocktail party he has become an expert on addiction. While I'm happy for him I'm wondering if the legal system would be a better place for him to continue his education. This arrogant, egotistical jerk won't take time to understand any other options. With proper training anyone can develop these mental and physical qualities, regardless of background, age or current physical ability. An absence of self discipline is one of the greatest destroyers of personal goals. One of the greatest benefits to Kung Fu and Tai Chi training is the relationship between the student and the Instructor, who is there to help you reach your goals. In each of the cases, minors of the Negro race, through their legal representatives, seek the aid of the courts in obtaining admission to the public schools of their community on a nonsegregated basis. In each instance, [347 U.S. 483, 488] they had been denied admission to schools attended by white children under laws requiring or permitting segregation according to race. This segregation was alleged to deprive the plaintiffs of the equal protection of the laws under the Fourteenth Amendment. In each of the cases other than the Delaware case, a three-judge federal district court denied relief to the plaintiffs on the so-called "separate but equal" doctrine announced by this Court in Plessy v. Ferguson, 163 U.S. 537 . Under that doctrine, equality of treatment is accorded when the races are provided substantially equal facilities, even though these facilities be separate. In the Delaware case, the Supreme Court of Delaware adhered to that doctrine, but ordered that the plaintiffs be admitted to the white schools because of their superiority to the Negro schools. moreResolved Question: Would you rather be over 900,000$ in debt... or...?

In addition, th ese movements help to develop you in ways that do not distress or i njure your body. Additionally, many stud ent s that claim a pre-existing injury have found relief that was un available to them through conventional treatments. Kung Fu and Tai Chi tr aining employs the practitioner's mind, which in turn increases the confidence, patience, strength, willpower, self-discipline and focus necessary for achievement in any endeavor. As Master Mullins tells us “Discipline desires determination.” Though training is challenging, students can build their determination and self discipline which can then enhance all areas of their daily lives. What will I learn? Shaolin Forms: A sequence of movements which increase dexterity and endurance and contain a variety of fighting techniques. Chin Na: Methods from the ancient Chinese art of holding and releasing. Animal forms: The aspect that sets Kung Fu apart from other arts. Techniques based on the actions and behaviors of animals such as Tiger, Dragon, Praying Mantis, Monkey, and Crane. Weapon forms: Some of the weapons we use are the Staff, Short Stick, Spear, Broadsword, 3-section Staff, Chain Whip and Kwang Tao. What are classes like? Classes begin with a warm-up and then move into drills of basic stances, punches and kicks. Depending on advancement, students work on forms specific to their level. Practical applications to the techniques that have been learned are given. Do I have to be in good shape to take a class? Every beginner is encouraged to go at their own speed.
